goodbye Elm Street

I grew up in a room with fourteen windows and no closet.

We had a laundry chute that the cats never fell down,

a fancy dining room

and five bathrooms.

I thought the fireplace was hideous when I was 9 but I love it now.

Upstairs the closets had storage spaces behind them, with ceilings that sloped under the eaves. We called them cubby holes and each had our own to play in.

Not every house is a home but this one was.

So much to say about those pictures, they say so much. Think I need to go spend some time in the empty house and relive a few things. thanks for posting.

An eloquent, simple tribute to a wonderful home. Thank you for sharing it. It reminds us all of what a home can be. We should all have had our own cubbies toh ide and play in.

Thanks to you all, it was the perfect house to grow up in and I have only begun to let myself miss it. I hope the new family loves it as much as we did.
