I'm back!

I've been all over the country in the last few weeks: Chicago, Philadelphia, Storrs, CT, Charlotte, NC, and it hasn't been quite as much fun as I thought it would be. Too many hotel rooms, too many airport security lines, too much restaurant food. I admit, it got me down.

But this weekend I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. I worked at the NYBG's orchid show on Saturday and Sunday, and yes, it was gorgeous and colorful and over the top, but what really set my heart pounding was the scene outside the conservatory. Because I see promise in the greening grass and the bare but budding branches.

That being said, it wouldn't be fair to leave you without a few images from inside the show, so here, in no special order, are some beauties from the family Orchidaceae:

a seductive Vanda

arches of mounted, epiphtyic orchids...a gateway to paradise

mixed Miltoniopsis

an orchid pagoda (don't try this at home)

The show runs through the beginning of April and is definitely worth a trip to the Bronx!
