R u hungry?
I'm exhausted, but satisfied. We cooked, styled, and shot our way through a passel of wild food recipes. Sadly I left my good camera in the city this weekend (don't ask), but fortunately Rob made photographic magic, as usual, and Carleen's editorial eye and expertise in the kitchen sped things along. Among our accomplishments:
dahlia tuber bread (w/spicebush berries & wild ginger)
sauteed Apios tubers and black trumpet mushrooms
purple fruits vodka
(elderberry, mahonia, mulberry, callicarpa, amelanchier)
(elderberry, mahonia, mulberry, callicarpa, amelanchier)
membrillo (from ornamental quinces)
rowan (aka mountain ash) jelly
milkweed flower sorbet (in popsicle form)
bee balm vinegar
Deep fried lotus root
Damn I wish I had my real camera!

Gorgeous, WOW, yum!
I'm drooling!
Hi Ellen: Thought I'd put my order in for a totally foraged meal, next time we're in P.A. It looks wonderful and after we've finished each dish, you can explain it to us. Love, Mum
Whoa. SO unfair, bi-atch! It all looks wonderful and exotic. Such textures and colors. What was your favorite surpise?
Sweet. For the book I assume. Picturing you on a mad book tour with foraging and feasting events and pen in hand for signing.
